CURRENT COLLECTION ITEM Persian silver on copper circular tray with Ghalamzani engravings of people in a drinking partyThis is a circular Persian silver on copper tray with intricate Ghalamzani engravings depicting 2 men and 2 women drinking and dancing. This may have something to do with this illustration of A Festive Party in a Garden with Dance, Music, and Wine that appears in the manuscript of a collection of poems titled Dīvān-i Ḥāfiẓ (ديوان حافظ) by Hafiz (Hafez). Decanters and cups can be seen on the side. The tray is about 23" in diameter and weighs about 7 lb. Ghalamzani is the metalworking art technique involving hammering (gold, silver, copper or other materials), engraving, Repoussé and chasing to form detailed relief features and small engraved patterns.
