PAST COLLECTION ITEM Huge Korean mother of pearl lacquer painting showing a natural sceneryThis is a beautiful and rare Korean mother of pearl inlay black lacquer painting showing a traditional Oriental scenery of a village with homes, trees, people fishing and rowing boats in a steam in a backdrop of rolling hills and mountains. Thousands of pieces of shells have been used to create this intricate art. Even waves in the water are represented. It is 83ʺ W × 43.0ʺ H × 3.0ʺ D and is painted on a single wood panel box. It weighs 60 lb. I have never seen such huge lacquer art as a single piece before and nothing like this is available online. Most lacquer paintings are made using multiple panels.
