PAST COLLECTION ITEM Mid-century wall clock with oil rain fountain lamp and multiple figuresThis is a rare vintage wall clock with a mineral oil rain lamp incorporated in it. It is 41" tall, 13" wide and 7" deep. The ornate clock case has 2 fluted columns on either side and 2 figures above them. The clock dial is in the upper section. Below it is an opening where relief figure of a Greek or Roman goddess is mounted on a mirror, in front of which there are many strings. Mineral oil can be stored in a reservoir below. When a pump is run it takes the oil to an upper reservoir. The oil then falls along the numerous threads that are connected between the top and the bottom. When the oil continues falling one can see droplets and it provides the illusion of rain. The lady figure is illuminated from above where a bulb is installed. So far, I have not found this item even online. The person who acquired this item from me is a collector of oil rain lamps and he claims to have the largest collection of such lamps in the world. He has a Facebook page on his collection here. According to him this oil rain lamp clock is 1 of 2 known to exist. The other one is in Canada which he once tried to acquire, but could not.
