PAST COLLECTION ITEM Bronze base coffee table in the style of Willy Daro with two cranes near a treeThis is a rare table that can be used as an end, coffee or cocktail table. The design is attributed to Willy Daro c. 1970, Belgium. The cast bronze base features two cranes, herons or flamingos standing near a tree. There is nice patina on the bronze surface. The base is 18 tall, 23" wide, 21" deep and is about 30 lb in weight. The 3/8" thick glass top is 30" in diameter, but larger tops can be used as well.
Willy Daro is/was a French Postwar artist known for his botanical and floral sculptural forms, as well as his integration of Brutalist style with luxurious natural materials such as fossils and minerals. He founded his factory Les Nouveaux Ateliers Willy Daro in Brussels in the early 1960s, where he created sophisticated furniture and decor through 1987.
