PAST COLLECTION ITEM 19th century Black Forest smoking stand table with corn husk design baseThis is a rare Black Forest wooden smoking stand table from the 19th century. According to an appraiser he thinks it is most likely from the 1860's. The table is 22" wide 17" deep and 32" tall. I did a lot of research online but could not find this table design. The top seems similar to other Black Forest stands but they have carvings of bears on them. Someone told me the base of this table has something called corn husk design which I could not find so far online. The name of the maker is written at the bottom of the table as Sesti & Brugger, Interlaken. So, it is from Switzerland. Black Forest wood sculptures were historically carved in Switzerland. The original bowl that is supposed to sit at the circular opening and work as an ash tray is missing, but I think it would be easy to find some sort of replacement. The original owner told me this antique item was acquired somewhere in the Central Valley of California.
