Antique 51" bronze sculpture of Khmer Vishnu Hindu god
This is a rare bronze statute of Khmer style Vishnu (Hindu god of preservation) with 4 hands, each holding a club, a conch, a discus weapon and a mound of earth (in Indian art He holds a lotus flower instead). The surface has a nice dark patina. I contacted several appraisers. While each have a slightly different opinion the consensus is that this sculpture is from the late 19th or early 20th century. It is probably an old reproduction made as a decorative item. In any case this statue is not something one can find easily, especially at this large size. The statue is 51" tall, 22" wide, 12" deep and 75 lb in weight.
