Wooden Thai sculpture of a temple guard in Lanna style

This is a wood carved Thai sculpture of a temple guard (thepphanom or thephanom) in a kneeling pose.  It was hand-crafted and painted by the villagers of Northern Thailand using the ancient Lanna style.  The intricate carvings can be seen with inlay of colorful glass pieces as well as some of gold leaf.  Most of the statue is dark in color.  The statue is about 31" tall, 12" wide, 12" deep and weighs about 20 lb.
