PAST COLLECTION ITEM Rare abstract ceramic sculpture by California artist Blanche Phillips HowardThis is an vintage abstract sculpture by Blanche Phillips Howard (1908 - 1979) who was influential in the San Francisco Bay Area art scene in the 1950's and 1970's. She created sculptures in the abstract expressionist style. Here is an article on the artist. The ceramic sculpture has blue and white circles on a brown ground on one side. On the second side there are black circles on a brown ground and on the third side there is a brown slit on a black background. It is signed vertically. The sculpture is 9.25" high, 5" wide and 5" deep.
