Federal Republic of Germany Order of Merit badge and star from the 1951-1957 era

This is a Federal Republic of Germany Order of Merit from the 1951-1957 era. It consists of a Steinhauer & Lück 800 silver neck badge and a breast Star. The 60 mm wide badge is a golden cross enameled in red, with a central disc bearing a black eagle. The gilt neck badge comes in a suspension loop and ribbon. The 80 mm wide star is a golden star with straight rays with the badge superimposed upon it. It comes with a tapered vertical pin. The badge and star are put inside a blue velvet lined presentation box of 9-3/4" x 6-1/2" x1-1/4" size.
