PAST COLLECTION ITEM Pair of framed reproduction of etchings by Giovanni Battista PiranesiThis is a pair of framed reproduction of etchings by Giovanni Battista Piranesi (Italian, 1720-1778). They show Roman building architectures. One of them is titled in Italian Gruppo di Colonne, che regge due archi d'un grande Cortile . . . (Group of columns which support two arches of a great courtyard . . .) and the other is titled Tempio antico inventato e disegnato alla maniera di quelli che si fabbricavano in onore della Dea Vesta . . .(Imaginary ancient temple designed in the style of those built in honour of the Goddess Vesta . . . ). The ornate frames are 24"x30" in size.
