PAST COLLECTION ITEM Hand painted reproduction of the painting Flute Concert with Frederick the Great in Sanssouci by Adolph MenzelThis is a beautiful oil on canvas hand painted reproduction of the 1852 painting Flute Concert with Frederick the Great in Sanssouci (Flötenkonzert Friedrichs des Großen in Sanssouci) by the German artist Adolph Menzel (1815-1905). It depicts Frederick II, the King of Prussia playing the flute, and people listening to his performance at night in his court during his older sister, Margravine of Bayreuth's visit. The light from the chandelier in the dark background make the scene magical. The painting seems similar in style to some of Rembrandt's works. The ornate wooden frame is 48" by 37" in size. The original painting is in the collection of Alte Nationalgalerie, National Museums in Berlin, Germany.
